For health educators,
nurses, school counselors, athletic trainers and others who are involved in health education and
wellness programs
February 21, 2012
Kingswood-Oxford School, West Hartford (Library)
5:00 - 8:30 pm
What do our students tell us about their
health and well-being? We will share
data from a National Database of student responses to the Independent School
Health Check survey. The following issues will be presented for discussion: sleep, academic honesty, safety at school,
substance abuse, academic motivation and pressure, sexual behavior, parental
engagement, help seeking behavior.
Round table
discussion: Participants will have the opportunity to
share their own health education programs and are encouraged to bring copies of
their curricula and descriptions of successful wellness programs ( eg. peer advocacy programs, parent information
sessions, other original protocols) to share with others. We will talk about WHAT WORKS and the
CHALLENGES we face. Please bring any
handouts that you would like to share.
CAIS Wellness
Resource Directory: At our last
dinner meeting on Wellness we compiled this directory. We will review it, and
update it with suggestions from the group. All will receive a copy.
Facilitators: Anne Cass, Head of Upper School, Wooster
School and Rosemary Baggish, Director of
Mental Health in Independent School Communities,(MHISC), Institute of
Living
