Academic Tech Retreat
THIS IS A TWO-DAY RETREAT - April 23 from 9:00am until April 24 at 12 noon. If you wish to attend as a day attendee only (non-residential) the fee is $200. Email d_brewer@caisct.org if you wish to enroll as a day attendee.
The CAIS Academic Tech Retreat was created as a time and place for busy academic techs to get away from the pressures of school to reconnect with colleagues and professionals in their field. Moving into its fifth successful year, the conference focuses on such topics as curriculum integration, new technologies and professional development. The relaxed format of the retreat allows conference attendees to form connections and become comfortable with new concepts and ideas to bring back to their work.
This year's conference will stick to the very successful open-forum format with the addition of our keynote speaker, Laurie Bartels. The open forum format allows participants to formulate topics and work in groups to discuss, come up with solutions, share ideas or just let out a little steam!
Our Keynote Laurie Bartels:
Three Pounds that Packs a Punch
We are all adults and we all spend part of our jobs helping other adults make use of technology. What can we take from the realm of adult learning and the brain that can be useful to us as learners and teachers? We'll touch on brain basics, adult brains, aging brains, memory, learning, and professional development. Be prepared to think as much about yourselves as about your colleagues! Laptops are fine to bring with you, though they won't be our only tools.
Conference Information:
Located on a bend in the Housatonic River, just a half-mile from the covered bridge in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains, the Trinity Conference Center is the perfect place to reconnect and rejuvenate! We look forward to seeing you there!
Possible attendees may include:
