What if you could bring the power of music into your teaching without needing conventional musical training? This workshop is designed to give you strategies to enable you to do just that, regardless of how much formal training you have had in music. The Dalcroze approach teaches an understanding of music – its fundamental concepts, its expressive meanings, and its deep connections to other arts and human activities – through ground breaking techniques incorporating rhythmic movement, aural training, and physical, vocal and instrumental improvisation.
Come join William Bauer, Ph.D., Director of the Dalcroze Atelier at the College of Staten Island/CUNY and President of the Dalcroze Society of America as he leads participants on an exploration of Dalcroze Eurhythmics and inspires participants to bring a new dimension of insight to their teaching. Whether you are new to using movement in the classroom or are looking for a fresh perspective, the tools and principles shared in this workshop will help you facilitate children’s musical growth in a playful and engaging way. This workshop for teachers will be held at The Children’s School, 118 Scofieldtown Road in Stamford, on Saturday, February 11, 2017, from 9 to 11 a.m.
