2026 Climate Summit

Who: any educator interested in or committed to school sustainability When: April 16 2026 || 9:00AM - 2:00PM Where: Choate Rosemary Hall, Wallingford, CT What: A full-day program to begin or further your school's work towards climate change preparedness. Participants will leave knowing the next actionable steps to take, wherever your school is on its journey.
The Summit includes:
- Morning coffee and refreshments; lunch
- Opportunities to connect with vendors
- Extended learning sessions with Tighe & Bond, a leading engineering, environmental, planning, and design consulting firm; and with Liz Cutler, Consultant & Founder of Whole School Sustainability, who works directly with schools to create individualized plans towards institutional sustainability.
Cost: $125 per person (CAIS school) or $100 per person for 3+ people from the same school; $ 163 per person (non-member school)
SESSION DESCRIPTIONS
Whole School Sustainability In this workshop you will learn the principles behind building a thriving whole school sustainability initiative included a deep dive into mission alignment, theories of change, and sustainability leadership. You will work in cross-school teams moving between learning and doing. We will focus on a “many projects” approach with a connecting the three main legs of sustainability—curriculum, facilities, and institutional behavior—with the varied school stakeholders (students, parents, faculty, staff, administration, and the Board). Participants will leave with specific ideas for moving forward in the short and long-term.
Tighe & Bond Tighe & Bond will focus on Connecticut DEEP stormwater compliance requirements, with a specific focus on their financial and operational implications. Stormwater management is increasingly a financial and risk management priority—especially following major weather events. This presentation will provide practical guidance to help organizations understand exposure, avoid costly gaps, and develop an actionable compliance plan. During the presentation, they will cover:
- Key CT DEEP stormwater compliance requirements
- Areas of highest risk for non-compliance
- Practical steps to build a cost-effective compliance plan and timeline
