Peer Learning Community: Middle & Upper School history teachers
Thursday, May 07, 2026, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM EDT
Category: Events
The CAIS Commission for School Growth & Collaboration is excited to offer three Peer Learning Community (PLC) events, each of which brings together educators who share a role and professional interest. The PLC events provide an opportunity for educators to visit classes, participate in facilitated roundtable discussion, get a tour of the host school, and collaborate and learn together with peers from CAIS schools who share your role, expertise, and professional interest. When: Thursday, May 7, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM Join fellow middle and upper school history teachers for a day of observation, reflection and discussion. This visit will be centered on the idea of historical agency in students. Participants will discuss how to help students understand history not as a fixed story of powerful figures, but as a dynamic process where individuals and groups (even ordinary ones) made choices, faced challenges, and could influence events, fostering their own sense of power to act meaningfully in the present and future. Wooster will provide an optional lunch from 12:30-1:00 for any participants who wish to stay. Please note that due to the limited space and the demands on the host school, registration represents a commitment to attend, barring exceptional circumstances. |
